Michaelangelo–or so I heard–saw The David in the marble, encased in rock, leaving his job as one of liberator, I suppose. Dennis Lehane's advice to writers is more pedestrian - sit your ass in a chair and start hammering your keyboard. Were he a sculptor, I suspect he'd go broke buying new blocks of marble given his insistence on production over perfection.
All that to say, I started yesterday with the follow-on to Gone To Ground, and I'm going at a glacial pace to involved with the wording. Story is king, and I am wrangling like a serf in the outer boroughs of fiction.
I have one offer in on GTG. It's the first credible deal from someone who knows what she's doing, and she's ready to get behind the manuscript. A few others still in the wings I am waiting on. Cheers for now - this teacher is on summer break!
